Below, you will find a link to the PawPeds site explaining what the G1 Breeder Course covers as well as a list of breeders, worldwide, who have successfully completed the course. I have successfully completed G1, am currently on a waitlist to start G2, and plan to complete G3 as well! Currently, there are only 6 breeders in the U.S. who have completed all three courses. I hope to be the 7th unless someone else beats me to it!!! I appreciate the wealth of invaluable information I have learned from participating in the PawPeds G1 course and look forward to the next one. There is so much more to learn, of course, and always will be. In the future, we look forward to participating in the PawPeds health registry/program as well.
Update: As of 12/22, I successfully completed the G2 PawPeds course and am so excited to share this accomplishment! This course was challenging but it was well worth the time and effort and I learned a LOT about color genetics and kitten care! My next personal goal is to complete the G3 PawPeds course as soon as I am able to but, in the meantime, I will be digging into Robinson's Genetics for Veterinarians and Cat Breeders. Reputable breeders should never stop learning. There is always so much more to learn and education that is put into practice makes all the difference in running a healthy cattery. I believe I owe it to our cats, kittens, and all of our pet parents to keep learning, improving our breeding practices.

Update: As of 12/22, I successfully completed the G2 PawPeds course and am so excited to share this accomplishment! I will be adding the banner in a day or two. In the world of cats, it is strongly advised to seek the knowledge and support of those who have much more experience than "newbies." I am fortunate to have a mentor who is always there to answer my questions, give me advice, and encourage me as I embark on this adventure. Breeders with much more experience than I do, have a wealth of knowledge and I look forward to learning from many more of them as we return to cat shows and continue to meet, learn from and work with other breeders.
Since I participated in my very first cat show with my first purebred Bengal cat in 1997, I have loved going to cat shows! Where else can you find a roomful of people who love cats as much as you do and can talk about them all weekend?! Cat shows are a wonderful way to build relationships with other breeders, engage in educational breed seminars, and gauge the quality of your breeding program according to how well your cats meet breed standards. It is a lot of fun but it is also an important part of breeding that I will continue to participate in. I am always happy to talk about cats, so if you see me at a cat show, come say, "Hello!"
Nowadays, there are many ways to access reliable information via the internet. Breed Seminars that focus on the latest research regarding various aspects of cat health and behavior are informative and an important way for me to continue to improve my breeding program and how I care for my cats. As a former public school teacher, I am someone who deeply values ongoing education. Truthfully, the more I learn, the more I realize I have so much more to learn! This mindset motivates me to keep growing and improving.
I enjoy doing my own research and am constantly searching for new information that will increase my knowledge base and inform my practices. Not only is it beneficial for the welfare of our cats but it helps me to be supportive to those who become part of the LionSpirit Family. When you adopt a kitten/cat from us, you receive our lifetime support. If I don't have an immediate answer to a question, I will do my best to find the answer from my mentor, other experienced breeders, our veterinarian, and/or my own research.
